Also known as Liz on GR. I am here, but really just planting the seed. I am a student who likes all kinds of books, and I'll be honest about what I think about them.

The Mists of Avalon
Marion Zimmer Bradley
The Serpent's Shadow - Rick Riordan Actual rating 3.5What a satisfying conclusion to a good to great trilogy. The only reason this doesn't get a five is because, to be quite honest, it was wavering at times from a 2-3, 4-5, 4, 5, 3, and so forth and so on. Anyways, I liked how it ended and everything was tied up nicely.I'll say the final one hundred pages was a showdown of action, romance, and some good laughs to boot. The entire trilogy on a whole is a lot of fun, I don't think it copies Percy Jackson as much as people think except the whole Gods and Mortals idea. I like Egyptian mythology and how he revitalized it. The characters, I'll say my favorites are Bast, Bes, Anubis, Walt, and Uncle Amos. Carter and Sadie are good protagonists, but I found Sadie at times to be rather annoying--but I guess it's her style to be so. Carter is awkward, but loveable in his own way (I guess). The pacing of this book is uneven at times. The final one hundred pages went by incredibly fast, but the prior three hundred could drag from time to time. It's probably the only downside to the series that it isn't as quick in tempo as the Percy Jackson series. However, it's still a very satisfying read and the final book delivers.I will say with the first and last book of the Kane Chronicles, I like it more than Percy Jackson except the middle book wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Anyways, I like both series about the same now and to be quite honest--I find that my favorite character from both is Walt and Anubis. I like the more somber types what can I say?
