This was just pure fun.Warlocks, witches, alternate history setting in California during the late 1800's, frontier, cults, San Francisco, New York, steampunk, witchpunk, crystals, Native Americans, nationalism, and crazy characters. I wanted to read a book about a girl and wizard falling in love, and what I got was so much for. Just great. Dreadnaught Stanton and Emily were very fun characters, not predictable in the slightest. Loved, loved Dreadnaught Stanton! Lots of great twists, never saw anything coming and all I have to say is I'm glad I found out about this book. I will read the next! Just wow. A fun ride makes me want to watch more westerns. The writing was well paced, good amount of descriptions, fun inventions, and a very interesting magic system. Extremely well explained and loved the different ideas. Blew me away! I wasn't sure what to expect, but I really liked it!Anyone who likes alternate histories, magic systems, steampunk, witchpunk, and fun characters!
